**Exciting News from George Town, Grand Cayman: Zircuit Launches Garfield Testnet on February 24, 2025!**
We’re thrilled to announce that Zircuit is rolling out Garfield, our latest testnet, launching the week of February 24, 2025! This upgrade brings full support for all Cancun opcodes, sets the stage for the upcoming Pectra upgrade, and introduces a high-performance prover that enhances block validation efficiency.
**Garfield Testnet: A Step Forward in Ethereum Scaling**
The Garfield testnet is an essential platform for testing Pectra-related updates, which are set to be integrated into the Zircuit mainnet in March 2025. Here are some of the key improvements you can look forward to:
– **Full Cancun Opcode Support**: Developers can now take advantage of the latest enhancements in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for building and testing their applications.
– **Pectra Compatibility**: Garfield is designed to seamlessly accommodate Pectra once it activates on Ethereum.
– **Enhanced Prover**: We’ve introduced a more powerful prover that can validate all blocks, significantly boosting speed and scalability.
– **Testing of the Proving Cluster**: Garfield allows for thorough optimization and evaluation of Zircuit’s proving infrastructure.
– **EIP-7702 Readiness**: The testnet is prepared for EIP-7702, with an update planned shortly.
**New Network, Fresh Setup Required**
Garfield is a completely new network with no previous testnet history. Developers will need to update their configurations, including a new chain ID and RPC endpoint. Here are the details you’ll need:
– **Chain ID**: 48898
– **RPC Endpoint**: [https://garfield-testnet.zircuit.com](https://garfield-testnet.zircuit.com)
– **Block Explorer**: [https://explorer.garfield-testnet.zircuit.com](https://explorer.garfield-testnet.zircuit.com)
– **Bridge URL**: [https://bridge.garfield-testnet.zircuit.com](https://bridge.garfield-testnet.zircuit.com)
All relevant information will be shared in the official documentation before the launch.
**Transition Plan: Sunsetting of Current Testnet**
Please note that the existing Zircuit testnet will be retired on May 31, 2025. Users are encouraged to withdraw any Sepolia ETH or testnet assets before this transition. An escape hatch will be activated prior to the sunset, allowing for withdrawals even after May 31, 2025.
**Garfield Update Coming to Zircuit Mainnet**
We’re excited to share that Zircuit will implement Garfield updates on the mainnet in March 2025, just ahead of Pectra’s Ethereum mainnet activation. This transition will be smooth, with no expected downtime or action required from users. For real-time updates, feel free to follow us on X at @ZircuitL2 or join our Discord community!
**Mainnet Enhancements: Faster RPC, Upgraded Explorer, and Improved Bridge**
In addition to Garfield, we’re rolling out significant enhancements:
– **New RPC Endpoints**: Experience a high-speed, low-latency RPC service that enhances stability. While current endpoints will remain active, we encourage users to migrate.
– **Block Explorer Enhancements**: With Sourcify integration, smart contract verification becomes easier, promoting transparency.
– **Revamped Bridge**: We’ve streamlined the withdrawal process, with further optimizations on the way.
– **Escape Hatch Deployment**: An escape hatch feature will be connected to Testnet 1.0 before its retirement, ensuring decentralized, permissionless withdrawals from Zircuit forever.
We can’t wait for you to experience all the exciting updates with Garfield!
