Crypto Fear Deepens After Binance Hack, With BTC at 0.69 and XRP at 0.61 Bullish-to-Bearish Ratio

Ripple (XRP)

Crypto market sentiment has deteriorated sharply over the past two months, with Bitcoin, XRP and several other major cryptocurrencies attracting more bearish than bullish commentary. Santiment’s latest social sentiment data suggests that fear has spread across the market, while the recent Binance hack has accelerated the shift in investor mood.

The analytics platform reported that Bitcoin currently has approximately 0.69 bullish comments for every bearish one. XRP is weaker at around 0.61, indicating that negative commentary is substantially outweighing positive discussion around both assets.

Ethereum is showing comparatively stronger sentiment, with a bullish-to-bearish commentary ratio of approximately 1.14. However, Santiment noted that enthusiasm around ETH has also declined considerably from September levels, suggesting that the broader deterioration is not limited to Bitcoin and XRP.

The figures offer a snapshot of how traders and crypto community members are discussing major assets online. A ratio below 1.0 means bearish comments outnumber bullish ones, while a reading above 1.0 indicates the opposite. These measurements do not directly track buying and selling activity, but they can help identify periods when market participants become unusually optimistic or pessimistic.

Binance Hack Accelerates the Shift Toward Market Fear

Santiment identified the Binance hack as a major catalyst behind the latest deterioration in crypto sentiment. The incident intensified concerns across the market, adding security fears to an already weakening price environment.

The combination of falling prices and negative security headlines has created a difficult backdrop for major cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin and XRP are both attracting considerably more bearish discussion than bullish commentary, while Ethereum’s relatively stronger ratio still reflects a decline in confidence.

The development is particularly relevant because sentiment has been weakening for nearly two months. Rather than representing a brief reaction to one news event, the current environment reflects a sustained decline in enthusiasm that the Binance incident has reportedly made worse.

However, extremely bearish sentiment does not automatically mean that prices are about to recover. Social media commentary can remain negative during prolonged market declines, and sentiment indicators are not reliable tools for identifying an exact market bottom.

Santiment Identifies Price Stabilization as a Key Rebound Signal

Despite the negative readings, Santiment argues that periods of widespread fear can create contrarian opportunities. Historically, some of the strongest recovery opportunities have emerged when market participants become excessively pessimistic and selling pressure eventually begins to ease.

The analytics platform highlighted a particular combination worth monitoring: Bitcoin and XRP sentiment remaining below 1.0 while their prices stop making new lows. In that scenario, the gap between negative community commentary and stabilizing prices could provide an early indication that selling pressure is weakening.

This distinction is important. A low bullish-to-bearish ratio by itself does not establish that a reversal is approaching. If prices continue falling and market participants keep reacting to negative developments, pessimism could persist for longer.

For Bitcoin, the current 0.69 ratio shows that bearish discussion is dominating the conversation. XRP’s 0.61 reading is even weaker, while Ethereum’s 1.14 suggests that its community remains comparatively more optimistic despite declining enthusiasm.

A sustained improvement in price action alongside depressed sentiment would therefore be more meaningful than fear alone. Traders will be watching whether Bitcoin and XRP can stabilize without attracting another wave of selling.

For now, Santiment’s data points to a market dominated by caution rather than confidence. A mid-term relief rally remains a possibility if prices find stability, but the sentiment figures do not confirm that a recovery has begun. The next phase of market activity will determine whether today’s pessimism becomes a contrarian opportunity or a reflection of further downside risk.
