## Cardano Foundation Partners with SERPRO to Boost ADA Adoption in Latin America
The Cardano Foundation has exciting news that could significantly increase the adoption of ADA in Latin America! They have teamed up with Brazil’s largest IT company, SERPRO (Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados). This partnership, announced on Thursday, aims to integrate Cardano’s blockchain technology into Brazil’s public sector, which could transform government digital services. The announcement highlighted that SERPRO is the world’s largest state-owned Information Technology company, and this collaboration is set to accelerate blockchain adoption and digital transformation in Latin America’s largest public sector.
SERPRO, Brazil’s top provider of government technology solutions, boasts a vast technological infrastructure, processing an impressive 33 billion transactions each year and serving 90% of the country’s federal administration. This makes it the largest digital government platform globally, positioning Cardano as a vital player in Brazil’s tech-driven modernization efforts. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recognized the importance of this development and congratulated the foundation on securing this valuable partnership.
Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, also underscored the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with SERPRO represents a transformative step in modernizing Brazil’s public sector infrastructure through blockchain education and technology.” He added, “This sets a powerful precedent for government adoption across Latin America and showcases Cardano Foundation’s commitment to driving meaningful technological progress in the region.”
The SERPRO partnership is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives by Cardano to solidify its position as a leader in blockchain adoption. In June 2023, Cardano collaborated with Entre Ríos Province in Argentina to integrate blockchain solutions into public administration, enhancing efficiency and transparency. Then, in October 2024, the network celebrated the signing of its first legally enforceable smart contract in Argentina, recognized under its judicial system.
To further its expansion, Cardano joined forces with BitcoinOS in October to tap into Bitcoin’s $1.3 trillion liquidity for its decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, enhancing cross-chain capabilities. Charles Hoskinson has consistently highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in promoting blockchain adoption. During a December 2024 livestream, he remarked, “We have never had better opportunities as an ecosystem to make partnerships with people because the reality is we have great tech.” He also shared that the platform has engaged with major industry players, including Microsoft Azure, Polkadot, and Hedera, to broaden its influence across various sectors.
