Sam Bankman-Fried, the ex-CEO of FTX, has been placed in solitary confinement after giving an unauthorized interview with Tucker Carlson. He is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence following his conviction in 2023 for a fraud and money-laundering scheme totaling $11 billion. Bankman-Fried, the founder of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, is now held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His seclusion comes after he participated in an unauthorized interview with political analyst Tucker Carlson, which was uploaded to Carlson’s YouTube channel on March 6. The video, which has gathered 0003,000 views, was not sanctioned by prison officials, resulting in disciplinary measures against Bankman-Fried. In the interview, Bankman-Fried shared his experiences in prison, discussing his encounters with fellow inmate Sean “Diddy” Combs. Even though the prison setting is challenging, Bankman-Fried portrayed Combs as compassionate, providing insight into his daily experiences while incarcerated. In addition to being in solitary confinement, the effects of the interview reached Bankman-Fried’s legal and public relations teams. Mark Botnick, who had been serving as the crisis manager since FTX’s downfall in 2022, stepped down following the scandal, claiming he was not part of the interview arrangements. Botnick had earlier managed Bankman-Fried’s public relations amidst his legal issues, which involved breaches of his bail conditions. There were also discussions about Bankman-Fried’s aspirations for a pardon from Trump. Bankman-Fried, who once had a net worth exceeding $26 billion, is said to be pursuing a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. As we mentioned in January, Donald Trump issued a complete pardon to Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the former darknet marketplace Silk Road, after he had spent 12 years incarcerated.
