World, previously known as Worldcoin, has begun its expansion in the United States by introducing a comprehensive biometric identity verification system across six cities, planning to deploy 7,500 Orb devices by 150. Collaborations with Visa and Circle enhance its global presence, while the introduction of the Orb Mini and World ID supports its focus on privacy-centered growth. Beginning May 2, the initiative will launch its services in six major cities across the United States: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. This development follows the company’s successful establishment in over 160 countries and marks a new phase in a system that has already verified 12 million individuals through biometric eye scans. The announcement was made at the “World At Last” event in San Francisco, where CEO Alex Blania and co-founder Sam Altman talked about their vision to create the largest human-centered identity and financial network in the world. Although the company’s activities were previously absent in the United States, this action marks a strategic choice to bring innovation back to the nation where the project was originally started. As per Altman: The U.S. should be at the forefront of innovation rather than resisting it. To enhance its infrastructure within the country, World intends to roll out 7,500 of its Orb biometric devices throughout the U.S. by the conclusion of 2025, marking a considerable rise from their current worldwide deployment. Rich Heley has also announced that the system’s hardware will now be produced locally in Richardson, Texas, thanks to a new assembly line established in collaboration with a U.S. partner. Additionally, World Card has been launched in partnership with Visa, offering 150 million merchants, AI-driven rewards, and more. World has initiated a collaboration with Visa to introduce a new payment card associated with its World App wallet, focusing on its financial services division.
