IOTA is poised for major changes in 2025 – here’s what you should be aware of.

IOTA plans to introduce its Rebased mainnet by 2025, focusing on improved scalability and transaction speed. The network has introduced new functionalities, including the IOTA Gas Station, and made adjustments to IOTA Identity. The Nightly App, a multichain crypto wallet, recently posted on X about why 2025 might be a pivotal year for IOTA, which is known for its eco-friendly blockchain. The article disclosed that IOTA is establishing its infrastructure as it aims to secure a distinctive role within the Web3 landscape. Nightly App highlighted that IOTA presently operates on a two-tier framework. Its Layer 1 processes smart contracts with the secure and efficient Move programming language. Furthermore, Layer 2 supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and Solidity, ensuring compatibility with different external applications. The Rebased Mainnet Upgrade propels technical progress. The upcoming launch of the IOTA Rebased is included in the foundation’s development strategy for 2025. The IOTA Foundation has focused the initial quarter of this year on readying the networks for the mainnet and ensuring its stability. As reported by the Nightly App, IOTA’s Node Team has improved its performance by addressing multiple bugs and enhancing infrastructure monitoring. The Consensus Team launched a novel consensus model named Starfish, designed to enhance transaction and traffic speeds in heavily populated networks. Meanwhile, the Smart Contract Team tackled security issues by developing the Stardust Indexer, a tool for monitoring blockchain activity. The combination of tooling, DevOps, and the community effectively tested browser extensions. “Both tooling and DevOps, along with community support, tested a wide range of projects from browser extensions to backend services, ensuring a seamless launch for everyone.”
