The SPAR supermarket located on Bahnhofstrasse in Zug, Switzerland, has started to accept Bitcoin payments at the checkout. Instead of using a third-party application or converting digital currency to fiat, customers can transact directly with Bitcoin through the Lightning Network. They only need to scan a static QR code and send “sats,” which are the smallest denomination of BTC, to complete the process. The ease provided by this service is powered by LNURL, which operates alongside DFX Swiss’ OpenCryptoPay platform.
