## Bitcoin (BTC) Set to Surpass $150,000 This Year, According to Crypto Expert Tom Lee
In a recent chat on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Tom Lee, a managing partner and head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, shared his optimistic outlook on Bitcoin’s price trajectory.
## Bitcoin May Hit Bottom This Week
Bitcoin, along with other prominent cryptocurrencies like Ripple’s XRP, Cardano (ADA), and Solana’s SOL, experienced a significant drop on Tuesday. This decline came just days after a notable surge triggered by President Donald Trump’s announcement of a U.S. crypto strategic reserve, which erased all the gains from the initial excitement. Nevertheless, Tom Lee believes that a turning point for the crypto market is on the horizon following this recent sell-off.
During his conversation with CNBC, Lee recalled his mid-January prediction, where he suggested that Bitcoin might dip back to the $70,000 range, or even as low as $50,000, before embarking on a robust bull run. At that time, Bitcoin was trading around $91,600 after a fall from its recent peak of $103,000. Lee described this as a “pretty normal correction” for such a “hyper-volatile asset.”
Now, he has expressed his expectation that Bitcoin could exceed $150,000 this year, pointing to its growing acceptance. “It’s becoming more widely held. You know, Citadel starts trading it, it starts to have more broad acceptance,” he noted. In his view, the recent market correction was merely a “cyclical downturn” in Bitcoin’s price.
## How High Can Bitcoin Go In 2025?
As of the latest update, Bitcoin has seen an 8.8% decline over the past 24 hours, trading at $83,298 as Trump’s tariffs take effect. With a White House Crypto Summit set for March 7, investors are eagerly awaiting more clarity—or potential upheaval—based on the outcomes of the discussions.
While Lee did not provide a specific price target for Bitcoin in 2025 during his Monday interview, he has previously speculated that the leading cryptocurrency could reach as high as $250,000. Meanwhile, Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at asset management firm VanEck, forecasts that Bitcoin will soar to $180,000 by the end of 2025, while analysts at Bitfinex are predicting a $200,000 price point for BTC.
