VeChain Community Prepares for Galactica Upgrade Vote: Key Expectations and Insights

**Exciting Changes Ahead: The Galactica Upgrade is Here!**

The Galactica upgrade is set to bring some fantastic enhancements to VeChainThor, including dynamic fees, improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and deflationary mechanisms that will boost scalability and performance. The VeChain community is gearing up for an important moment in the blockchain’s journey: the upcoming vote on the Galactica upgrade. This vote, starting on February 25 at 7 a.m. UTC, gives Node holders a chance to shape the future of VeChainThor by participating in the first phase of the VeChain Renaissance roadmap.

The Galactica upgrade features a variety of VeChain Improvement Proposals (VIPs) aimed at enhancing the blockchain’s capabilities. These upgrades are part of the broader VeChain Renaissance initiative, which will unfold over several years, with Galactica kicking off the first of three significant phases. The proposed VIPs for Galactica encompass a wide range of improvements, from transaction processing to network security, all designed to elevate VeChainThor’s efficiency and scalability.

Mark your calendars for the Galactica vote – the first of three major upgrade phases on the VeChain Renaissance roadmap! Starting February 25 at 7 a.m. UTC, Node holders will have the opportunity to cast their votes on the future of Galactica. For full details, check out VeVote: https://t.co/qkWB0B40iD. One of the most exciting features of the Galactica upgrade is the introduction of a dynamic fee market. Drawing inspiration from Ethereum’s EIP-1559, this proposal replaces the traditional fixed-fee transaction model with a base fee that adjusts according to network demand. Additionally, users will have the option to include a priority fee to encourage validators to process transactions more quickly. This upgrade also involves burning 100% of base fees, which is expected to lead VTHO toward deflation, minimize attack vectors, and enhance overall network performance.

Another noteworthy change is the introduction of Typed Transactions, a new standardized transaction envelope format. This modular approach allows the protocol to evolve seamlessly without disrupting network operations.

Galactica also brings a significant update to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), aligning VeChainThor with Ethereum’s Shanghai release. This update will enhance compatibility with Ethereum-native tools and applications, facilitating smooth cross-chain integration. Furthermore, it aims to lower gas costs and improve overall network performance, making VeChainThor an appealing platform for developers and applications seeking blockchain compatibility.

The VIP-TBD proposal suggests an update to the Extension Contract for developers, introducing new functions that simplify contract execution. These enhancements are designed to save developers time and boost the efficiency of contract-based operations on the network.
