XRP Healthcare has officially acquired Pharma Ville, a leading retail and wholesale pharmacy chain in Uganda. This is the company’s foray into Africa’s developing healthcare industry to transform the distribution of pharmaceutical products through the use of technology-based solutions.
Pharma Ville operates two retail pharmacies and five wholesale centers from where the country is supplied with medicines continuously.
The acquisition brings with it major benefits with the 60 approved drug products, 18 ready for marketing immediately, and 70 others under the pipeline for approval.
Pharma Ville’s international supplier alliances further complement its distribution network for better accessibility of medical supplies. With the transition, the Ugandan medical care system will be optimized by XRP Healthcare with quality drugs becoming accessible and within the affordability range.
In support of its expansion, XRP Healthcare introduced its XRPH app onto the digital platform of Pharma Ville. The app is multilingual and provides medical advice in various languages like Luganda, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, and English.
Furthermore, the company aims to upgrade distribution channels, increase the range of products offered, and adopt sophisticated inventory management. By the end of Q4, Pharma Ville will rebrand as XRP Healthcare, solidifying its focus on innovation within the African healthcare industry.
XRP Healthcare Targets $259B Market with Tech-Driven Expansion
The acquisition will also generate short-term operational improvements, including increased inventory tracking, digital payment inclusion, and improved licensing for the purpose of increasing the number of medicines offered.
XRP Healthcare made substantial investments in establishing legal and operational infrastructures within Uganda to ensure expansion is smooth. The company’s end goal is to establish a strong presence within the medical industry in Africa and utilize technology to bridge gaps in medicine accessibility.
Kain Roomes, CEO of XRP Healthcare, said:
Uganda’s fragmented pharmaceutical landscape presents immense potential. By integrating Pharma Ville, we can deliver immediate impact—improving access to essential medicines and optimizing healthcare delivery.
With the African medical market set to reach $259 billion by 2030, XRP Healthcare stands to capitalize on the growth. The company also recently announced a worldwide initiative separate from its foray into Africa, which will be announced later this quarter. This signals additional plans within the global medical space beyond its existing footprint.
