Binance Invests $100 Million in Circle as USDC Partnership Expands for Five Years
Binance has invested $100 million in Circle Internet Group while extending its strategic relationship with the USDC issuer through a new five-year commercial agreement. The companies said the expanded partnership will focus on increasing access to USDC across Binance’s global platform, with particular attention on emerging markets.
The agreement gives Binance a direct equity position in Circle while also creating a longer-term commercial relationship around USDC distribution. Binance will promote and integrate USDC across its platform, while Circle will provide the infrastructure supporting the stablecoin’s holding and use.
Binance Takes $100 Million Circle Stake
The $100 million investment was made through a private placement of Circle Class A common stock. According to Circle, Binance purchased the shares at a price reflecting a 5% discount to Circle’s market price before the transaction closed.
The shares are subject to a lock-up of up to two years, with customary exceptions. The investment therefore represents more than a short-term commercial arrangement, while still giving Binance an interest in Circle’s corporate performance.
The companies first announced their strategic partnership in December 2024, when Binance agreed to make USDC more widely available across its products and services. At the time, Circle said the partnership would also support Binance’s corporate treasury use of USDC.

The new agreement significantly extends that relationship. Binance will focus on promotion, awareness and integration of USDC, particularly in emerging markets, while Circle supplies the infrastructure needed for customers to hold and use the stablecoin.
The timing comes as Circle continues expanding USDC beyond trading into payments, financial applications and institutional infrastructure. Circle currently says USDC is available in more than 185 countries and supported natively across 38 blockchain networks.
USDC Distribution Becomes the Focus
Emerging markets are a central part of the new agreement. Binance operates a large global user base, giving the exchange a distribution channel through which USDC can be promoted to customers in regions where access to dollar-denominated digital assets can be an important part of the crypto market.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said the companies see opportunities to use USDC to expand dollar access and support savings, investment and digital financial products in emerging markets. Those comments describe the companies’ strategic objective rather than evidence that those use cases have already reached a particular scale.
Binance co-CEO Richard Teng similarly described the investment and five-year commitment as a long-term relationship around digital-dollar infrastructure. Binance said the agreement is intended to support a more accessible and compliant digital economy.
USDC’s existing distribution footprint gives the partnership a significant base to build from. Circle says the stablecoin is accessible through more than 500 million end-user wallet products, although that figure represents wallet-product reach rather than 500 million individual active USDC users.
Binance has also recently expanded its technical support for USDC. On September 16, the exchange completed USDC integration on Circle’s Arc network and opened deposits, adding another connection between Binance’s platform and Circle’s expanding blockchain infrastructure.
For Circle, the agreement provides a major distribution partner alongside its continued expansion into payment infrastructure and institutional services. The company recently launched Arc mainnet and has been adding banking, payments and blockchain partners around its broader financial infrastructure strategy.
For Binance, the investment creates a direct financial connection to one of the industry’s largest stablecoin issuers while strengthening its role in USDC distribution. The deal also arrives as stablecoins become increasingly important to crypto trading, cross-border payments and onchain financial applications.
The immediate significance of the agreement is therefore both corporate and strategic. Binance has committed $100 million to Circle and five years of commercial cooperation, while Circle gains an expanded distribution relationship for USDC in global markets. The longer-term impact will depend on how successfully the companies convert that agreement into greater USDC usage, particularly across emerging economies.
