IOTA’s First LayerZero Test Transfer
The IOTA mainnet’s LayerZero integration is attracting attention after a test token named MyExample Token Name, with the symbol MY_EXAMPLE, became the first reported asset to move through the newly configured infrastructure. The transfer is notable less for the token itself than for the infrastructure surrounding it, because the setup resembles the type of framework required for future cross-chain stablecoin activity.
IOTA announced its LayerZero and Stargate integration in December 2025, saying the connection would give the IOTA mainnet access to more than 150 blockchain networks and open the door to stablecoins, real-world assets and cross-chain applications. LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token, or OFT, standard was identified as a core part of that infrastructure.
According to the onchain activity described, the LayerZero configuration was assembled by a single address over one evening. The setup included bridge contracts, endpoint and send/receive paths, inbound and outbound transfer caps, a pause mechanism, fee logic and a treasury. That combination indicates a functioning test environment rather than a simple token deployment.
The first reported transfer arrived on September 15 at 21:58:26 UTC. The message was identified as number one and originated from endpoint 30102, which corresponds to BNB Smart Chain in LayerZero’s network system. Only one unit of MY_EXAMPLE was received on IOTA, reinforcing the impression that the transaction was an initial infrastructure test rather than an attempt to move meaningful liquidity.
The token itself also carries obvious testing characteristics. Its name, MyExample Token Name, and symbol, MY_EXAMPLE, are generic placeholders rather than branding associated with a known asset. The six-decimal configuration, however, has drawn attention because it resembles the decimal structure commonly used by dollar stablecoins.
Why USDT0 Is the Key Question
The speculation centers on USDT0, the LayerZero-based infrastructure used to make Tether’s USDT available across multiple networks. LayerZero has explicitly stated that USDT0 uses its OFT standard, and its documentation says USDT0 is designed around a unified cross-chain supply rather than separate wrapped versions of USDT.
The USDT0 connection is no longer merely theoretical for IOTA. Current USDT0 documentation specifically lists IOTA as a dedicated lockbox route. Under that design, USDT is locked through an adapter on Ethereum while USDT0 is minted on IOTA, with the reverse process burning USDT0 on IOTA and releasing the corresponding USDT.

That makes the earlier MY_EXAMPLE test particularly interesting when viewed alongside the later infrastructure documentation. A placeholder token would allow developers to test message delivery, transfer limits, administrative controls, fee handling and the broader bridge architecture before exposing a production asset to users.
There is an important distinction, however. The MY_EXAMPLE transfer does not by itself prove that USDT0 was the intended asset. A six-decimal token and a LayerZero-compatible deployment can support multiple use cases, and the transaction alone cannot establish the intentions of the address that created the contracts.
The broader LayerZero ecosystem does provide context for why stablecoins are a likely use case. LayerZero says its OFT standard is already used by assets including USDT0, PYUSD and USDG, while the company has continued adding stablecoin-focused integrations across different networks. In September, BDACS also selected the OFT standard for KRW1, a Korean won-backed stablecoin.
For IOTA, the potential significance goes beyond adding another token. The December integration announcement said LayerZero could support stablecoin inflows, tokenized assets, identity applications and cross-chain data exchange on the IOTA mainnet. The project also described Stargate as an access point for supported assets moving between IOTA and other connected networks.

The clearest evidence now comes from the USDT0 documentation itself. It identifies IOTA L1 separately from IOTA EVM and describes a dedicated Ethereum-to-IOTA route, showing that the infrastructure has moved beyond a purely hypothetical integration. That does not establish how much USDT0 liquidity will eventually reach IOTA, but it confirms that the stablecoin route exists at the infrastructure level.
For IOTA holders and developers, the next stage is therefore more important than the MY_EXAMPLE test itself. The key metrics will be whether USDT0 begins attracting actual liquidity, whether applications integrate it, how much cross-chain volume reaches the network and whether users begin using the asset for payments, trading and decentralized finance.
The sequence also illustrates how cross-chain infrastructure is often tested before a production asset arrives. A one-token transfer may look insignificant, but testing endpoint configuration, limits, pause controls and settlement paths reduces the number of unknowns before real value is moved. In IOTA’s case, the subsequent USDT0 documentation gives the earlier test activity a much clearer context.
For now, MY_EXAMPLE should be treated as a test asset rather than evidence of a new IOTA token launch. The more consequential development is that IOTA now has documented infrastructure for USDT0 through LayerZero’s interoperability stack. If that route develops meaningful liquidity and usage, it could become one of the more important additions to IOTA’s mainnet asset ecosystem.
