AI Financial has reported a severe financial downturn for the quarter ended March 28, posting a net loss of approximately $271.5 million compared to a $2.4 million loss in the same period a year earlier. The company, which serves as a treasury firm for WLFI, also disclosed that its financial condition raises “substantial doubt” about its ability to continue operating within the next year.

The firm generated only $4.7 million in revenue during the quarter, entirely from its fintech and crypto payments segment, while its legacy biotechnology operations were classified as discontinued. At the same time, AI Financial reported a working capital deficit of approximately $5.5 million and total current liabilities of $39.1 million against $32.2 million in current assets, underscoring ongoing liquidity pressures across its balance sheet.

A major driver of the reported losses was the sharp decline in value of the company’s WLFI holdings. As of March 28, AI Financial held approximately 7.28 billion WLFI tokens valued at around $706 million, down significantly from over $1 billion in December 2025. This decline resulted in an estimated unrealized loss of $348.3 million, with the firm noting that its token holdings remain highly exposed to market volatility and uncertain monetization conditions.

WLFI Exposure, Liquidity Pressure, and Financing Needs Raise Risk Concerns

AI Financial emphasized that its WLFI holdings are subject to significant market risk, lock-up restrictions, and limited liquidity conditions. A large portion of its token position is non-transferable for extended periods, while additional portions are subject to shareholder approval and regulatory requirements before they can be released or sold. These constraints limit the company’s flexibility in managing its digital asset exposure during periods of market stress.

The company also disclosed financial ties to World Liberty Financial, including shared leadership connections and prior lending arrangements. AI Financial previously drew down a $15 million loan from the related entity, with proceeds intended for share repurchases, additional token acquisitions, and general corporate purposes.

Management stated that continued operations may depend on improving liquidity, increasing revenue from its fintech segment, and potentially raising additional capital through debt or equity financing. The company also warned that it cannot guarantee WLFI tokens will retain their value or be monetized on favorable terms, further amplifying uncertainty around its long-term financial outlook.

Following the earnings release, AI Financial’s Nasdaq-listed shares declined sharply, reflecting investor concerns over both its balance sheet stability and its heavy reliance on volatile digital asset holdings. The situation highlights the broader risks associated with crypto treasury strategies, particularly when concentrated exposure to a single token becomes a primary driver of corporate financial health.
