The Cardano Foundation has announced a multi-year partnership with the Venture Accelerator at UCLA Anderson School of Management, bringing Cardano education, blockchain applications and startup support into the university’s entrepreneurship programs. The collaboration will connect students and early-stage founders with practical blockchain training and opportunities to engage with the Cardano ecosystem.

Announced on September 28, 2026, the partnership will integrate Cardano Academy content and real-world use cases into UCLA’s blockchain education. It also introduces sponsored fellowships, interactive learning sessions and support for entrepreneurs exploring blockchain and artificial intelligence applications.

The initiative will begin with an interactive masterclass covering enterprise Web3, decentralized AI agent infrastructure and practical blockchain use cases. Students will work in teams to develop business architectures and pitch ideas, giving them an opportunity to apply the concepts rather than focus solely on the technology’s underlying principles.

The partnership also creates a pathway for selected startups to access funding, mentorship and ecosystem engagement. Through five sponsored Cardano Fellowships within the UCLA Accelerate Program, early-stage companies will have opportunities to explore building applications on Cardano while receiving support during their development.

Cardano Academy Content to Enter UCLA’s Blockchain Curriculum

Cardano Academy materials and use cases will be incorporated into UCLA blockchain education, including the course Blockchain Cryptocurrency Applications in Business and Finance, taught by Alex Nascimento, a UCLA Anderson MBA alumnus. The integration is scheduled to begin in 2027 and will include practical applications and project-based learning.

The first masterclass, titled “Cardano for the Real World: Blockchain, AI, and Building the Next Big Thing,” is scheduled for October 19, 2026. Designed by Cardano Academy and Nascimento, the session will introduce participants to enterprise blockchain applications and the role of decentralized infrastructure in emerging AI systems.

Students will work in teams to develop Web3 business architectures and present short pitches. The program will also explore AI-assisted smart contract development, connecting blockchain concepts with tools that founders may use when designing and testing digital products.

Participants who successfully complete the masterclass will receive a Cardano Foundation-sponsored certification. The program is intended to give students a structured introduction to blockchain applications while helping them consider how the technology can address practical business needs.

The fellowship component will extend the partnership beyond classroom learning. Five selected companies participating in UCLA Accelerate will receive sponsored fellowships that include funding, mentorship and opportunities to connect with the Cardano ecosystem. The participating startups will also be able to explore whether Cardano is suitable for their products and business models.

UCLA Partnership Extends Cardano’s Startup and Ecosystem Outreach

The Cardano Foundation will also sponsor the 2027 UCLA Draper Innovation Showcase. The involvement will include educational programming, founder engagement, networking opportunities and ecosystem visibility through the event’s activities.

The partnership brings together Cardano’s education and venture initiatives with UCLA Anderson’s entrepreneurship programs. Cardano Foundation Commercialisation and Ecosystem Growth Director Nadia Mannell said the collaboration would allow the Foundation to engage with founders early and provide access to technical knowledge, ecosystem connections and operational support.

UCLA Anderson representatives have emphasized experiential learning as a central part of the initiative. Venture Accelerator Director Trish Halamandaris said the partnership would give students and founders practical exposure to blockchain and AI while opening additional routes to mentorship and funding opportunities.

The agreement also builds on the Cardano Foundation’s existing education and ecosystem work, including collaborations with the University of Zurich, the University of Brasília and PUC-Rio. These initiatives form part of a wider effort to connect academic learning with blockchain development and entrepreneurship.

For Cardano, the UCLA partnership creates a structured opportunity to introduce its technology to students, researchers and early-stage businesses. Its longer-term impact will depend on student participation, startup outcomes and whether companies supported through the program develop applications that attract users. The collaboration does not guarantee that participating ventures will build on Cardano, but it gives them a route to explore the network as part of their business development.
