Charles Hoskinson has expressed strong confidence in Midnight’s long-term potential, saying the privacy-focused blockchain could become bigger than Zcash as it expands into selective disclosure, private agents and cross-chain decentralized finance. The Cardano founder’s comments followed a post from Weiss Crypto, which described Midnight’s native NIGHT token as a potential standout crypto asset over the next 24 months.
Hoskinson welcomed the assessment and highlighted several technologies he believes could distinguish Midnight from established privacy networks. He pointed to zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), trusted execution environments (TEEs) and multiparty computation (MPC), alongside a DeFi kernel designed to support activity across major blockchain networks.
The comments place Midnight’s ambitions beyond private transfers alone. While privacy is a central part of its design, Hoskinson is also presenting the network as infrastructure that could support applications, financial services and interactions between users across different blockchain ecosystems.
Hoskinson Highlights Midnight’s Privacy and Cross-Chain Plans
Selective disclosure is one of the key features Hoskinson cited. Midnight’s approach is designed to let users prove specific information required by an application or transaction without exposing all underlying data. The network’s documentation describes this as proof-based disclosure, where zero-knowledge proofs can verify conditions while keeping sensitive details private.
Hoskinson also referred to “Private Agents,” pointing to the potential use of privacy-preserving technology in more advanced blockchain applications. However, the post did not provide technical specifications, deployment dates or examples of how these agents will operate, leaving further details dependent on future development updates.
Another part of the vision is a DeFi kernel intended to connect with major chains. If implemented as described, this could allow developers to introduce privacy features into financial applications that serve users across different networks, rather than limiting Midnight’s use to its own ecosystem.

The combination of ZK, TEE and MPC technologies could provide different methods for protecting information and processing sensitive operations. Each has distinct security assumptions and use cases, so their practical value will depend on how Midnight integrates them, how applications are built and how the system performs under real-world conditions.
Hoskinson also highlighted Cardano’s continuous operation and the anticipated benefits of Ouroboros Leios. Cardano’s published development roadmap describes Leios as a scalability initiative focused on increasing throughput, with testing and engineering work still forming part of its path toward production readiness.
NIGHT’s Outlook Depends on Adoption and Delivery
Weiss Crypto’s view that NIGHT could become one of the stronger crypto investments over the next 24 months reflects an investment outlook, not a confirmed market outcome. Hoskinson’s response similarly expresses confidence in Midnight’s future, but neither statement establishes how the token will perform or whether the network will achieve its stated ambitions.
Midnight’s potential position against Zcash will depend partly on what “bigger” means in practice. It could refer to market capitalization, network activity, developer adoption or the range of applications supported. Hoskinson did not specify a measurement in his post, so the comparison remains a broad projection rather than a defined target.

Zcash has an established presence in the privacy-coin sector, while Midnight is positioning itself around programmable privacy and interoperability. Its ability to attract developers and users will depend on the reliability of its privacy tools, application experience, security, liquidity and the usefulness of its cross-chain integrations.
The 2027 reference gives the community a timeframe to watch, but it should not be treated as a guarantee that every feature mentioned will be delivered within that period. Development milestones, independent security reviews and actual application usage will provide clearer evidence of progress than broad forecasts.
For NIGHT holders and Cardano users, the central question is whether Midnight can turn its technical design into sustained demand. Hoskinson has outlined an expansive vision that combines privacy, programmable applications and cross-chain functionality. The next stage will be measured by implementation, ecosystem participation and whether those capabilities solve practical problems for users.
