Coinbase Wallet Launches Loyalty Program Offering Traders Up to 50% Back in USDC
Coinbase Wallet has introduced a loyalty program that rewards active traders with weekly USDC rebates on eligible cryptocurrency swaps. The program uses a five-tier system based on trading volume over the previous 30 days, with the highest tier offering to return up to 50% of eligible swap fees retained by Coinbase Wallet.
The launch gives frequent users a financial incentive to conduct eligible trades through the self-custody wallet. Rather than offering a fixed reward to everyone, Coinbase Wallet links rebate rates to each wallet’s individual trading activity, rewarding users who generate higher volumes.
Five Tiers Determine How Much Traders Earn Back
The program begins with Explorer, the entry-level status for wallets with less than $5,000 in eligible 30-day trading volume. Traders reaching $5,000 qualify for Trencher, which offers a 15% rebate. The Pro tier starts at $25,000 in volume and provides 30% back, while Legend requires $100,000 and offers 40%.
At the top, VIP status requires at least $500,000 in eligible trading volume over 30 days and comes with a 50% rebate rate. These percentages apply to qualifying swap fees retained by Coinbase Wallet after applicable discounts and third-party protocol allocations, rather than the total cost of a transaction.
Network and gas fees are excluded from the rebate calculation. This distinction matters because transaction costs can vary considerably depending on the blockchain and network conditions, meaning the advertised percentage does not represent a refund of every fee associated with a swap.
Coinbase Wallet says trader status updates daily, and users who qualify for a higher tier receive the improved rebate rate immediately. However, status can also decline. If trading activity falls or a user takes a break, the wallet loses one tier per week under the program’s stated rules.
Each wallet maintains a separate status, with no aggregation of volume across multiple wallets. Users can check their current tier, review the next threshold and explore available offers through the Rewards section on the app’s home screen.
Referral Discounts and VIP Benefits Expand the Program
The loyalty initiative also connects with Coinbase Wallet’s referral system. Eligible new users who sign up through a friend’s referral link may qualify for a first-swap bonus of up to $35 in USDC, subject to offer-specific conditions and a 30-day minimum balance requirement. Referred users can also receive a 10% discount on eligible swap fees.
Existing users can share referral links and earn 25% of the net fees Coinbase Wallet collects from eligible swaps made by referred friends, with payments made in USDC. The company says eligible referral discounts and loyalty rebates can be combined, with loyalty rebates calculated after the fee discount.
VIP status offers additional benefits beyond financial rebates. Coinbase Wallet says qualifying traders can receive direct access to the product team, early previews of upcoming features, and invitations to private dinners and events. These perks position the highest tier as a relationship program for heavy users, rather than simply a larger fee discount.
The launch comes as crypto wallets compete to retain users by adding rewards and services beyond basic token storage and swaps. Fee rebates could encourage traders to keep eligible activity within Coinbase Wallet, although the value of the program will depend on users’ actual trading costs, qualifying volume and regional eligibility.
Coinbase Wallet notes that program terms, rebate rates and availability may change, and the initiative can be modified, suspended or terminated. Traders should review the applicable terms before participating and avoid increasing trading volume solely to reach a higher tier, since transaction costs and market risks can outweigh any rebates earned.
