IOTA has announced a major upgrade to its oracle infrastructure by integrating Pyth Pro, the next generation of Pyth Network’s price feed service. The upgrade replaces the previous Pythnet and Wormhole-based architecture with a faster, subscription-based platform designed to deliver institutional-grade market data across thousands of financial assets.
The transition gives developers building on the IOTA Layer 1 network access to lower-latency price updates, broader asset coverage, and infrastructure designed for applications operating at institutional scale. The migration is part of Pyth Network’s ecosystem-wide transition and is not exclusive to IOTA.
The rollout officially began on July 28, with developers now able to migrate to Pyth Pro before Pyth Core support ends on August 18.
Pyth Pro Brings Faster Data and Broader Market Coverage
Pyth has already served as one of IOTA’s primary decentralized oracle providers, allowing smart contracts to access cryptographically verified market prices that update approximately every second. These feeds enable decentralized applications to use trusted pricing information instead of relying on centralized sources.
With the introduction of Pyth Pro, developers gain access to more than 3,000 price feeds covering cryptocurrencies, equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), futures, foreign exchange markets, commodities, and fixed-income assets through a unified infrastructure.
According to IOTA, the new service offers several advantages over the previous system, including lower latency, higher-frequency updates during periods of market volatility, improved reliability, and expanded asset coverage.

The upgrade also reflects Pyth Network’s broader architectural shift. Instead of relying on the older Pythnet network and the Wormhole bridge for cross-chain data delivery, Pyth Pro uses a subscription-based model designed to serve financial institutions and enterprise applications requiring consistently fast and reliable market data.
For decentralized exchanges, perpetual futures platforms, lending protocols, and tokenized real-world asset applications, access to institutional-quality pricing infrastructure could improve execution accuracy while reducing delays caused by slower oracle updates.
Developers Face August 18 Migration Deadline
While Pyth Pro is now available on IOTA, developers currently using the legacy Pyth Core service must update their integrations before August 18. After that date, Pyth Core support on IOTA Layer 1 will end, meaning applications that fail to migrate will no longer receive price updates.
IOTA said affected development teams have already been notified to ensure a smooth transition before the deadline.
Unlike the previous free oracle service, Pyth Pro operates as a commercial subscription platform. Developers requiring higher-frequency market data must subscribe to an appropriate pricing plan and update their implementations using Pyth’s latest documentation.

Although this introduces a paid infrastructure model, the change is intended to support more demanding financial applications that require institutional-grade performance, particularly as blockchain technology continues expanding into tokenized real-world assets, digital capital markets, and traditional financial services.
The upgrade also aligns with IOTA’s broader strategy of strengthening infrastructure for enterprise and institutional adoption. Recent network developments, including the Starfish consensus improvements and continued expansion of real-world asset initiatives, have focused on improving network reliability and performance for production-grade applications.
