NEAR Protocol Launches NEAR Business for Confidential Crypto Treasury Management

NEAR Protocol has introduced NEAR Business, a confidential multisignature treasury platform designed to help crypto-native companies manage payroll, vendor payments, asset swaps, and capital allocation across more than 35 blockchain networks. The platform combines transaction approvals, cross-chain asset management, and financial reporting in a single dashboard, targeting a major challenge for Web3 businesses: managing digital assets without exposing sensitive financial activity on public blockchains.

According to NEAR Protocol, the service allows teams to manage assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and NEAR while enforcing organizational approval rules before transactions can proceed. The platform is free to start, with no subscription, annual contract, or per-seat fees. NEAR Business is initially invite-only as the company onboards a limited group of teams.

NEAR Business Brings Confidentiality to Crypto Treasury Operations

Public blockchains allow anyone with a block explorer to inspect many transaction details, including wallet addresses, transferred amounts, and transaction timing. For companies managing payroll, vendor relationships, and investment strategies, this transparency can reveal commercially sensitive information. NEAR Business aims to address that problem by keeping transaction details confidential while making governance and approvals independently verifiable.

The platform allows organizations to establish roles and approval thresholds for different financial operations. Requests can move through designated requestors, finance teams, and governance members before the treasury contract authorizes execution. According to NEAR Protocol, membership, roles, and voting records remain onchain, while the amounts, assets, and recipients associated with approved transactions stay within the confidential environment.

NEAR Business also consolidates everyday financial operations. Teams can send individual or bulk payments, upload payroll and vendor lists through CSV files, swap assets across supported chains, and manage capital allocations from one dashboard. Transaction histories can be exported in CSV, Excel, and JSON formats, with PDF receipts available for accounting and audit purposes.

The platform supports multiple treasuries, allowing organizations to separate funds by business entity, team, or investment mandate while maintaining an overview of their operations. Hardware signing is available through Ledger devices, passkeys, and compatible wallets, giving teams additional options for authorizing transactions.

NEAR Intents Powers Cross-Chain Execution and Treasury Security

NEAR Business is built on several components of NEAR’s infrastructure, including NEAR Intents, a Treasury Contract, and multi-party computation (MPC) signing. The Treasury Contract uses a SputnikDAO multisignature contract on NEAR mainnet to enforce each organization’s approval requirements. NEAR Protocol says the platform itself does not hold a key or key share for the treasury contract, supporting its self-custodial design.

MPC signing adds another layer of control by distributing signing authority across independent node operators. A transaction can proceed to signing only after the required approvals have been satisfied. This architecture is intended to reduce dependence on a single individual or service when managing organizational funds.

For swaps and payments, NEAR Intents connects users with competing solvers that attempt to execute requested transactions. A verifier contract on NEAR settles the transaction atomically, meaning the swap either completes according to the specified conditions or is refunded. NEAR Protocol identifies Ledger, Trust Wallet, Brave, and LI.FI among the teams using NEAR Intents as infrastructure.

Confidential transaction processing is another central feature. NEAR Business uses a confidential NEAR shard operated by permissioned validators to protect balances, swaps, and payments from public exposure. While this approach can improve operational privacy, businesses will still need to evaluate the platform’s security assumptions, validator model, privacy policy, and regulatory obligations.

The platform supports EVM and non-EVM networks, including Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, TON, Sui, Aptos, Cardano, Stellar, and XRP, alongside other supported networks. NEAR Protocol says it covers gas costs for the first 1,000 actions each month, with standard network fees applying afterward. Swaps carry a 0.35% fee included in the quote presented to approvers.

NEAR Targets Web3 Companies, Funds, and Digital Asset Treasuries

NEAR Business is aimed at organizations that need more structured financial controls than a single wallet can provide. Web3 companies can use it for employee compensation and contractor payments, while foundations can coordinate grants and treasury allocations according to approved mandates. Funds, family offices, and digital asset treasury companies may also benefit from managing positions and reporting across multiple networks and entities.

The pricing model is a key part of the offering. NEAR Protocol says traditional enterprise custody platforms can cost more than $18,000 annually, while NEAR Business offers unlimited users and treasuries without subscription or per-seat charges. Actual costs will still depend on network fees, swap activity, and the organization’s transaction requirements.

The launch places NEAR in competition for the operational infrastructure used by crypto businesses, rather than focusing exclusively on decentralized applications or token trading. If organizations adopt the platform for recurring financial activity, NEAR Business could expand the practical use of NEAR’s confidential infrastructure and cross-chain execution technology.

However, adoption will depend on more than pricing and privacy features. Businesses will need confidence in transaction security, reliable execution, accounting integrations, and the platform’s ability to meet their governance and compliance requirements. Since onboarding is initially invite-only, broader availability and real-world usage remain important milestones to watch.

NEAR Business ultimately aims to make crypto treasury management resemble a coordinated corporate finance operation, with defined approvals, confidential transactions, and consolidated reporting. Its long-term significance will depend on whether Web3 organizations move meaningful treasury activity onto the platform and continue using it as their financial operations grow.
