Tokenized Equities Hit $3.8 Billion as Ethereum, Chainlink and Ondo Position for the Next Financial Shift

Tokenized Equities Hit $3.8 Billion: Three Crypto Projects That Could Capture the Biggest Opportunity

Tokenization is emerging as one of the most important developments in the digital asset industry. The circulating supply of tokenized equities has reached a new record of $3.8 billion, extending its record-breaking run to ten consecutive weeks and increasing approximately 590% year-to-date. The growth suggests that investors are increasingly interested in accessing traditional financial assets through blockchain infrastructure.

The appeal goes beyond cryptocurrency speculation. Tokenized stocks and other financial products can offer fractional ownership, faster settlement and access outside conventional stock exchange hours. Investors in different time zones can trade without waiting for traditional markets to reopen, creating demand for financial infrastructure that operates continuously.

Jupiter, a major trading platform in the Solana ecosystem, has reported that approximately 70% of tokenized asset trading takes place outside traditional market hours. The International Monetary Fund has also highlighted the growing importance of after-hours activity, reporting that more than half of tokenized equity trading occurs outside regular US market hours.

The shift is attracting traditional financial institutions. The New York Stock Exchange announced plans in January 2026 to develop a tokenized securities platform supporting 24-hour trading, fractional share ownership and onchain settlement, subject to regulatory approval. Its plans demonstrate that tokenization is becoming a serious consideration for established financial market operators.

However, not every cryptocurrency will benefit equally. The biggest opportunities could emerge around the networks that settle tokenized assets, the infrastructure connecting financial institutions and the platforms issuing and distributing the products. Three projects stand out in these areas.

1. Ethereum: The Settlement Layer for Tokenized Finance

Ethereum is one of the strongest candidates to benefit from the expansion of tokenized financial markets. Its established developer ecosystem, institutional adoption and extensive decentralized finance infrastructure give it an important position in the transition toward onchain finance.

RWA.xyz’s market data places Ethereum at approximately $15.1 billion in distributed real-world asset value, making it the largest network in its displayed rankings. That broader figure includes tokenized assets beyond equities, showing that Ethereum already has a substantial position in the wider tokenization market.

If tokenized stocks, bonds, funds and other financial instruments continue moving onchain, Ethereum could benefit from increased network activity, settlement demand and activity across its Layer 2 ecosystem. ETH is the network’s native asset and plays a role in transaction fees and economic security. However, greater tokenized asset adoption does not automatically translate into proportional ETH price appreciation, particularly when activity takes place on Layer 2 networks.

2. Chainlink: Connecting Traditional Finance to Blockchains

Chainlink could capture another important part of the opportunity. Tokenized assets require reliable market data, reserve information, cross-chain communication and mechanisms that allow financial institutions to move assets between different networks.

Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP, is designed to address the challenge of moving digital assets and information across blockchains. In September 2026, Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0 with institutional supporters including ANZ, Deutsche Börse Group’s Crypto Finance, Fidelity International, Google Cloud and Sygnum.

A particularly relevant development came on October 29, when South Korea’s Hanwha Investment and Securities announced a strategic partnership with Chainlink. The company plans to use Chainlink’s data standard and CCIP as official infrastructure for a global tokenization platform, including pricing data, asset distribution and cross-chain connectivity.

If financial institutions increasingly rely on Chainlink’s infrastructure, LINK could benefit from growing demand for its services. Chainlink has also described a fee model in which enterprise and onchain revenue is converted into LINK and held in its strategic reserve. That creates a potential connection between infrastructure adoption and the token, although the scale of future demand remains uncertain.

3. Ondo Finance: Direct Exposure to Tokenized Securities

Ondo offers a more direct connection to the tokenized securities market. Rather than focusing primarily on the underlying blockchain infrastructure, Ondo develops products that bring traditional financial assets, including US stocks, ETFs and government securities, onto blockchain networks.

Ondo reported in May 2026 that its tokenized stocks platform had surpassed $1 billion in total value locked, with more than 70% market share among tokenized equity issuers at that time. The platform offered more than 260 tokenized US stocks and ETFs across Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain.

That position makes Ondo one of the most direct ways to follow the growth of tokenized securities. Its challenge will be maintaining market share as exchanges, banks and competing issuers introduce their own products. Investors should also distinguish between growth in Ondo’s business and value accruing to the ONDO token: platform adoption does not automatically guarantee token-holder profits.

The tokenization market is still developing, and regulatory requirements, custody arrangements, liquidity and competition will determine which projects ultimately dominate. Ethereum, Chainlink and Ondo occupy three different positions in this emerging financial system: settlement, interoperability and asset issuance. If tokenization continues expanding, all three could benefit, but none is guaranteed to capture the largest share or deliver the strongest investment returns.
