VeChain is approaching a potentially important moment for VET as the network prepares to activate its VIP-255 upgrade on September 16. The upgrade, known as Interstellar, is scheduled for block height 25,902,540 and packages 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals into one major VeChainThor update.

The timing has already attracted attention from VET traders, particularly as the token attempts to recover from a prolonged period of consolidation. Recent market data showed VET gaining roughly 3% as traders positioned around the approaching upgrade, with resistance near $0.007 emerging as an important level for the market.

A break above that resistance could change the short-term technical picture. However, the upgrade itself should not be treated as a guaranteed price catalyst. The more important question for long-term VET holders is whether the technical improvements can translate into greater developer activity, applications and real-world usage.

Why VIP-255 Matters for VET

VIP-255 is designed to bring VeChainThor closer to Ethereum’s evolving technical environment. The upgrade incorporates changes associated with Ethereum’s Cancun, Prague and Osaka developments, improving EVM compatibility and giving developers access to newer capabilities.

Among the changes are cryptographic capabilities that can support applications using technologies such as passkeys and WebAuthn. Other improvements address block limits, gas management and access to recent block information, providing a more modern foundation for applications running on VeChainThor.

That matters because competition among Layer-1 networks increasingly depends on developer infrastructure rather than token narratives alone. Making VeChainThor easier for Ethereum developers to work with could reduce friction for teams considering the network and support the broader ecosystem expansion outlined in VeChain’s 2026 roadmap.

The upgrade is also arriving alongside a broader push to attract builders. VeChain’s Builder Hub now combines development tools, funding and founder support, while the network’s roadmap places scalability, interoperability, intelligence and real-world adoption at the center of its next phase.

This is where the Commercial Grants Platform becomes relevant. Funding developers through grants can help turn technical upgrades into actual applications, although the long-term impact will depend on whether funded projects attract users and generate sustained activity rather than simply launching on the network.

Can VET Break Out After Consolidation?

The immediate technical level remains $0.007. A convincing break above that area could encourage traders to look toward higher levels, while another rejection would suggest that VET remains trapped inside its broader consolidation range.

The bullish case becomes stronger if the September 16 upgrade arrives alongside increasing ecosystem activity. VeChain already positions itself around sustainability, enterprise applications and real-world data, while its 2026 strategy is increasingly focused on AI agents and blockchain infrastructure for the broader economy.

VeChain’s real-world strategy also extends into digital product passports. The network says more than 300,000 Digital Product Passport events have already been processed on VeChainThor, highlighting an existing use case that connects blockchain infrastructure with industrial and regulatory requirements.

The VTHO side of the ecosystem is another factor worth watching, but claims about a major supply shock should be treated carefully. Network activity can affect VTHO generation and consumption, yet stronger fundamentals need to be demonstrated through sustained transaction demand rather than short-term market commentary.

For VET investors, September 16 is therefore more than a date on the calendar. VIP-255 provides an opportunity for VeChain to strengthen its technical position, while grants, enterprise applications, AI initiatives and real-world asset infrastructure provide potential sources of longer-term demand.

Whether VET can finally escape its long consolidation will ultimately depend on what happens after the upgrade. A break above $0.007 would improve the technical picture, but sustained adoption would be the stronger signal. If VeChain can combine the Interstellar upgrade with growing developer and commercial activity, the case for a broader VET recovery could become considerably stronger.
