World Liberty Financial is expanding the use case of its USD1 stablecoin after the launch of what Donald Trump Jr. described as the first USD1-denominated real-world asset perpetual markets.

The new markets allow traders to gain perpetual futures exposure to assets including gold, oil and selected global equities while using USD1 as the quote currency. The launch was announced through a partnership with Aster, which listed the products under its AOS-2 perpetual listing standard.

According to the announcement, the initial markets include SPCXUSD1, CLUSD1, XAUUSD1, SNDKUSD1 and SKHYNIXUSD1. These products provide USD1-denominated exposure to the S&P 500, crude oil, gold, SanDisk and SK Hynix-related markets.

World Liberty said it is backing the launch with 250 million WLFI tokens and $12.5 million in USD1 to support liquidity and growth.

The development represents another attempt by the Trump-backed crypto venture to push USD1 beyond its role as a conventional dollar-pegged stablecoin and into a broader trading ecosystem. It also comes shortly after World Liberty received conditional preliminary approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank charter tied to its stablecoin and digital asset custody operations.

Gold, Oil and Equities Now Trade Against USD1

Stablecoins have traditionally been used as settlement assets within cryptocurrency markets. Traders commonly use dollar-pegged tokens to buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and other digital assets without moving funds through the traditional banking system.

The new USD1 markets take that concept into a different direction.

Rather than simply trading cryptocurrencies against a stablecoin, the Aster markets allow traders to use USD1 for perpetual contracts linked to traditional financial assets.

The XAUUSD1 market is linked to gold exposure, while CLUSD1 targets crude oil. SPCXUSD1 provides exposure associated with the S&P 500, while the other markets expand the offering toward publicly traded technology and semiconductor companies.

Perpetual markets differ from traditional futures because they generally do not have a fixed expiration date. Traders can maintain positions for longer periods, although mechanisms such as funding rates are typically used to keep perpetual contract prices aligned with their underlying reference markets.

For World Liberty, the launch creates another potential source of demand for USD1.

A trader using these markets may need USD1 to enter, maintain or settle positions, depending on the structure of the platform. That creates a practical use case beyond simply holding a stablecoin or using it to purchase cryptocurrencies.

The broader strategy appears to be centered on turning USD1 into a unit of account for multiple types of on-chain financial activity.

World Liberty Commits WLFI and USD1 to Support Liquidity

Donald Trump Jr. said the new markets are backed by 250 million WLFI tokens and $12.5 million in USD1.

The announcement did not provide a full breakdown of how the assets would be deployed across individual markets, but liquidity remains one of the most important factors in determining whether a new derivatives market can attract sustained trading activity.

Thin liquidity can result in wider spreads, higher slippage and difficulty entering or exiting large positions. For a new set of markets tied to commodities and equities, sufficient liquidity will be critical if World Liberty and Aster want to attract traders accustomed to deeper markets.

The use of both WLFI and USD1 is also notable.

USD1 provides the stable settlement currency at the center of the new markets, while WLFI is World Liberty’s native ecosystem token. By committing both assets, the company is connecting its stablecoin strategy with the broader WLFI ecosystem.

That could potentially strengthen the relationship between the two assets if the new trading infrastructure attracts significant usage.

However, the success of the initiative will ultimately depend on trading volume, liquidity providers and whether users choose USD1-denominated markets over competing products offered by established centralized and decentralized exchanges.

USD1 Is Moving Beyond the Traditional Stablecoin Model

The latest announcement fits into a broader expansion strategy for World Liberty Financial.

USD1 was launched as a dollar-pegged stablecoin, but World Liberty has increasingly sought to integrate it into payments, decentralized finance, institutional services and other blockchain-based applications.

World Liberty recently received conditional preliminary approval for a national trust bank charter from the OCC. The approval could eventually allow its trust company to expand federally supervised services related to USD1 issuance and digital asset custody, subject to further regulatory conditions and a final examination.

That regulatory development gives additional context to the latest RWA perpetual markets.

World Liberty is effectively pursuing several routes for USD1 adoption at the same time. It is seeking greater institutional credibility through a federally supervised trust structure while also expanding USD1’s presence in decentralized and crypto-native financial markets.

The RWA perpetual launch could be particularly important because it connects USD1 to one of the fastest-growing areas of blockchain finance: bringing traditional financial assets and market exposure on-chain.

Instead of tokenizing the underlying shares of a company or physical commodities directly, perpetual products allow traders to speculate on price movements through derivatives.

This model can potentially offer broader access and continuous trading, although derivatives also carry significant risks, particularly when leverage is involved.

What the Launch Could Mean for WLFI

The inclusion of 250 million WLFI in the liquidity and growth commitment has also placed the project’s native token at the center of the announcement.

WLFI has primarily been associated with the governance and broader financial ecosystem developed by World Liberty. As the company expands into stablecoins, institutional services and on-chain trading infrastructure, the question for token holders is whether WLFI will become increasingly connected to those products.

The Aster launch suggests World Liberty is attempting to build a more integrated ecosystem rather than operating USD1 and WLFI as entirely separate products.

If the new markets attract liquidity and trading activity, the development could increase visibility for both assets.

Still, investors should distinguish between ecosystem growth and direct value creation for a token.

A successful USD1 product does not automatically mean that WLFI will increase in value. The impact will depend on the economic relationship between the token, the platform and the products being developed around it.

That distinction will become increasingly important as World Liberty expands.

The Bigger Battle Is for Stablecoin Liquidity

The launch also highlights the growing competition among stablecoin issuers.

The stablecoin market is no longer simply about creating a token pegged to the U.S. dollar. The larger challenge is building enough liquidity, integrations and real-world utility to convince users and institutions to choose one stablecoin over another.

USD1 is entering that competition at a time when the stablecoin industry is becoming increasingly institutionalized.

World Liberty’s recent conditional regulatory approval gives the company an additional pathway toward expanding USD1 operations under federal supervision, although the trust bank remains subject to further conditions before becoming fully operational.

The RWA perpetual markets represent a different part of the strategy.

Rather than competing only for crypto exchange trading pairs, World Liberty is attempting to position USD1 as a settlement currency for exposure to global financial markets.

Gold, oil and equity-linked perpetuals could give USD1 holders more reasons to keep their capital within an on-chain ecosystem instead of converting back into another stablecoin or fiat currency.

A New Test for World Liberty’s Crypto Strategy

The launch of USD1-denominated RWA perpetual markets is a significant expansion of World Liberty Financial’s ambitions.

The initial offering gives traders access to gold, oil, equity and technology-linked perpetual markets using USD1, while World Liberty has committed 250 million WLFI and $12.5 million USD1 toward liquidity and growth.

For USD1, the move represents another attempt to build utility beyond basic stablecoin transfers and cryptocurrency trading.

For WLFI, it could signal a deeper connection between the token and the broader financial infrastructure World Liberty is developing.

The biggest question now is whether traders will actually adopt the new markets.

A successful launch would strengthen the argument that stablecoins can evolve into full-scale trading currencies for on-chain versions of traditional financial markets. A weak response, however, would demonstrate how difficult it is to challenge established exchanges and stablecoins, regardless of the backing behind a project.

For World Liberty, the digital dollar race is no longer just about issuing USD1.

It is increasingly about building enough markets, liquidity and financial infrastructure to make people use it.
