Bloxtel Brings Private 5G Infrastructure Onchain With Avalanche

Bloxtel is bringing private 5G infrastructure into the blockchain ecosystem through a new integration with Avalanche. The company says its AP 201 combines private 5G connectivity, edge computing and AI-powered network management in a single piece of infrastructure, while Avalanche provides the blockchain layer for registering physical network equipment.

The announcement expands the use of blockchain beyond digital assets and financial applications. Instead of simply recording token transactions, the proposed system connects physical telecommunications infrastructure with an onchain identity and authentication layer.

Bloxtel Connects Private 5G Hardware to Avalanche

The AP 201 is designed as an all-in-one private 5G access point. Bloxtel previously announced a partnership with Askey to develop the hardware, describing a system that places the 5G core alongside the radio and edge computing capabilities rather than relying entirely on a remote cloud environment.

According to Bloxtel, the AP 201 incorporates the 5G radio and core, edge computing and AI-based network management into one unit. This architecture is aimed at environments where businesses need dedicated wireless connectivity and local processing, including industrial and enterprise deployments.

The hardware is also designed around Bloxtel’s Open6GC architecture. The company said the system can run key 5G core functions directly on the edge device, reducing reliance on distant cloud infrastructure and potentially improving responsiveness for applications where network latency matters.

AI is another component of the AP 201. Bloxtel said its system includes an on-device AI agent for local decision-making, alongside capabilities for monitoring, predictive maintenance and network self-healing. The company has also outlined future hardware generations capable of handling more demanding edge workloads.

The blockchain component adds a different layer to the system. Avalanche’s current infrastructure supports customizable networks and applications, with the platform positioning its architecture for performance, interoperability, privacy and compliance across enterprise use cases.

Bloxtel says each physical AP 201 will be registered on Avalanche. If deployed at scale, that could give individual pieces of telecommunications infrastructure an onchain identity that can be referenced as part of a wider network-management system.

dSIM Technology Brings Network Identity Onchain

Bloxtel is also connecting subscriber authentication to the blockchain through its dSIM technology. The company says dSIM moves subscriber identity and authentication onchain, creating a link between physical network access and blockchain-based infrastructure.

This approach is aimed at private networks used in locations such as factories, warehouses, hospitals and stadiums. These environments can require dedicated connectivity while also managing large numbers of devices, users and network permissions.

The concept builds on Bloxtel’s broader effort to decentralize private 5G infrastructure. In its April partnership announcement with Askey, Bloxtel described an architecture intended to operate at the network edge and remain functional even in environments where connectivity to centralized infrastructure may be limited.

For Avalanche, the development adds another example of physical infrastructure being connected to its blockchain stack. The network already supports customized Avalanche L1s, which can be configured around specific performance, privacy and compliance requirements.

The timing also comes as Avalanche prepares its Helicon upgrade for mainnet on September 22. The upgrade introduces changes including continuous execution on C-Chain, dynamic gas pricing and changes to validator staking rules.

The Bloxtel announcement does not by itself establish how many AP 201 units will be deployed or how much activity the infrastructure will generate on Avalanche. Those metrics will depend on commercial deployments and adoption by businesses operating private networks.

Still, the integration points to a broader use of blockchain infrastructure: connecting physical machines, network identities and digital records. If Bloxtel’s model moves from announcement to deployments, Avalanche could become part of the underlying infrastructure used to identify and manage private 5G equipment and subscribers.
