VeChain Interstellar Upgrade Finalized After One Week Without Issues
VeChain has confirmed that its Interstellar upgrade has completed its first week on VeChainThor without observed issues. The hard fork went live on September 16, marking another major step in the network’s broader Renaissance technology roadmap.
VeChainThor Moves Closer to the Modern EVM
The Interstellar upgrade changes several underlying components of VeChainThor while keeping the transition largely invisible to ordinary users. VeChain said the network has continued operating as expected since the upgrade went live.
For developers, however, the changes are more significant. VeChain says VeChainThor now sits closer to the EVM environment used across much of the broader blockchain industry, reducing the amount of adaptation required when bringing existing EVM applications and development tools to the network.
One of the changes involves temporary blockchain state. The upgrade introduces mechanisms designed to make temporary state cheaper to handle, potentially giving developers more flexibility when building applications that require short-lived data during execution.
Interstellar also includes faster memory operations. These changes are part of the network’s effort to modernize its execution environment and reduce some of the technical differences between VeChainThor and other EVM-based platforms.

Another objective is greater predictability around block execution. VeChain has highlighted tighter limits as part of Interstellar, with the goal of making block times and network behavior more predictable as transaction workloads change.
The combination of these changes is important because developer compatibility can influence how easily applications move between blockchain environments. VeChain already operates a public blockchain with VET as its primary asset and VTHO used to pay transaction gas, while its ecosystem includes applications across DeFi, sustainability, NFTs and other categories.
Interstellar Marks Another Renaissance Milestone
VeChain’s latest update also emphasizes the absence of disruption for regular users. Unlike changes that require users to migrate assets or alter how they interact with wallets, Interstellar was designed as a protocol-level upgrade that could be implemented without changing the normal network experience.
That distinction is important for an upgrade of this size. VeChain has described the transition as planned and tested infrastructure work, with the first week providing an early indication that the deployment has proceeded according to expectations.
The successful rollout also gives developers a clearer environment in which to evaluate existing EVM applications and tooling on VeChainThor. However, technical compatibility alone does not guarantee that developers will deploy new applications or that existing applications will migrate to the network.
The upgrade follows VeChain’s wider push to modernize VeChainThor and make the network more accessible to builders. The company’s technical roadmap has long emphasized improving developer infrastructure and simplifying adoption, while its broader ecosystem strategy continues to focus heavily on real-world and sustainability applications.
For VET holders, the most direct significance of Interstellar is therefore the underlying network infrastructure rather than an immediate change to the token itself. A smoother and more familiar EVM environment could make development easier, but the eventual impact on ecosystem activity will depend on actual application deployment and user adoption.
With Interstellar now through its first week, VeChain is turning its attention toward the next stages of the Renaissance roadmap. The upgrade’s quiet rollout is consistent with the project’s stated objective: make substantial protocol improvements underneath the network while keeping everyday blockchain activity as stable as possible.
