Ethereum staking has reached a new all-time high, with 43.8 million ETH committed to the network, representing 35.9% of its total supply. According to the figures attributed to Bitwise’s Q4 2026 Staking Report, the milestone marks Ethereum’s sixth consecutive quarter of staking growth, highlighting continued participation in the network’s proof-of-stake security system.
The increase means more than one-third of Ethereum’s total supply is now staked, reducing the amount of ETH immediately available for trading while supporting transaction validation and network security. However, staked ETH is not necessarily permanently locked, as withdrawal rules, validator exit queues, and staking arrangements determine when funds can become available. The rising staking total therefore provides a measure of network participation, rather than a direct prediction of ETH’s price.
Ethereum Staking Grows as Yields Decline
Despite the record staking figure, Ethereum’s staking yield fell from 2.81% to 2.63% in the reported period. The decline illustrates an important dynamic in proof-of-stake networks: as staking participation and the amount of ETH earning rewards change, the yield available to individual participants can also shift.
Ethereum’s staking returns depend on several factors, including validator performance, network issuance, transaction-fee activity, and the total amount of ETH staked. Investors must also account for validator operating costs, liquid staking fees, and the risks associated with third-party providers. A lower yield does not necessarily indicate weaker network participation, particularly when the total amount staked continues to increase.
The report also compared Ethereum with other proof-of-stake networks. Solana’s staking ratio stood at 69%, although its yield declined from 6.38% to 5.99%. NEAR recorded a staking ratio of 46%, with a reported yield of 4.87%. These figures show that staking participation and reward rates vary considerably across blockchain ecosystems, reflecting differences in token economics and network design.
Solana’s higher reported yield may attract investors seeking greater staking returns, but yields alone do not establish which network offers the better investment. Token-price volatility, validator requirements, liquidity, and the sustainability of reward mechanisms remain important considerations when comparing staking opportunities.
Solana Tokenized Stocks Record $6.93 Billion in Trading Volume
Beyond staking, the report highlighted growth in blockchain-based financial markets. Tokenized stock trading volume on Solana increased 45% to $6.93 billion, pointing to expanding activity in digital representations of traditional financial assets. Tokenized stocks can offer blockchain-based trading and settlement, although their legal rights, availability, and investor protections depend on the issuing platform and jurisdiction.
Robinhood Chain also recorded a notable increase, with daily tokenized stock trading volume rising 22-fold during the quarter. The growth suggests that tokenized financial products are becoming an increasingly important area of competition among blockchain networks and financial platforms. However, trading volume alone does not reveal how much activity comes from unique users, whether the growth is sustainable, or how much revenue it generates.
For Ethereum investors, the staking milestone reinforces the network’s continuing role as a major proof-of-stake blockchain, even as other ecosystems expand their own financial applications. The rise to 43.8 million staked ETH is a significant network metric, but falling yields show that greater participation does not automatically translate into higher rewards.
Taken together, the reported figures highlight two developments worth watching: increasing commitment of ETH to network security and growing competition in tokenized financial markets. Whether these trends translate into stronger long-term token demand will depend on sustained adoption, economic incentives, and the real-world usefulness of the underlying blockchain infrastructure.
