BAT Price Doubled in 7 Days as Active Addresses Surged 252%, Santiment Reports
Basic Attention Token (BAT) doubled in price over seven days before retreating, while onchain activity surged ahead of the rally, according to a new report from market intelligence platform Santiment. The report highlights a pattern in which blockchain activity rises before prices move, followed by a wave of retail attention that may arrive too late to capture the initial gains.
Santiment reported that BAT’s active addresses increased by 252%, reaching a peak two days before the token’s price peaked. Since then, active addresses have fallen 46%, while BAT’s price has declined around 10%, according to the figures shared by the analytics platform. The post did not identify a clear catalyst for the initial move.
The divergence between network activity and price is central to Santiment’s analysis. A sharp increase in active addresses can indicate more participation in a token’s ecosystem, but it does not automatically establish whether the activity reflects sustainable demand, speculative trading or other types of transactions.
BAT and TIA Show a Repeating Crypto Trading Pattern
Santiment also pointed to Celestia’s TIA token, saying it had displayed a similar pattern for a second consecutive week. In the firm’s account, news triggered a price jump, after which broader market participants arrived roughly a day later. On both occasions, TIA subsequently surrendered approximately 13% of its gains.
The sequence matters because price movements can attract attention after much of an initial rally has already occurred. Traders reacting to headlines or rapid price increases may enter positions when momentum is already fading, leaving them exposed if early buyers begin taking profits.
However, the timing alone does not prove that late retail buying caused the subsequent declines. Price reversals can also reflect broader market conditions, liquidity, derivatives positioning, profit-taking or changes in expectations. Santiment’s observations are best treated as a market signal to investigate rather than proof of a single cause.
BAT’s active-address data offers a separate measure of participation from price performance. The reported 252% increase suggests a significant burst of onchain activity, while the later 46% decline indicates that the activity cooled. The figures do not, by themselves, reveal how many participants were unique investors or whether the additional addresses represented meaningful buying pressure.
For traders, the comparison between BAT and TIA underscores the importance of examining market participation alongside price action. A rally accompanied by growing network activity may deserve attention, but traders also need to assess whether activity remains elevated after the initial move and whether price gains are being sustained.
STRK Losses Put Focus on the Federal Reserve Decision
Santiment’s latest report also revisited an earlier call involving Starknet’s STRK token, which it said had fallen 33%. The post did not provide the timeframe or starting price for that decline, so the figure should be understood within the context of Santiment’s reported analysis rather than as a fully specified performance measure.
Meanwhile, Santiment described Bitcoin and Ether as broadly flat and pointed to the Federal Reserve’s October 28 decision as the next macroeconomic event to watch. Interest-rate decisions and central bank guidance can influence risk appetite across financial markets, including cryptocurrency, although the direction of any reaction is not guaranteed.
The upcoming decision may therefore provide a broader market backdrop for altcoins already showing uneven price performance. Smaller tokens can experience sharper moves than Bitcoin and Ether when liquidity shifts or speculative demand changes, but individual project developments can also influence their prices.
Taken together, Santiment’s examples highlight three different signals: a sharp rise and retreat in BAT activity, repeated reversals in TIA after news-driven rallies, and reported losses in STRK. These observations do not establish that all three tokens will continue falling, nor do they confirm a market-wide trend.
The practical takeaway is to look beyond headline gains. Active addresses, the persistence of trading activity, the timing of price moves and the wider macroeconomic environment can help traders assess whether a rally has durable support or is losing momentum.
