Pi Network has released Pi Node version 0.6.2, bringing improvements to SoloHost, node connectivity and the Pi Desktop experience.

More importantly, Pi Network says it has successfully completed a distributed computing test through a SoloHost application. That gives the latest update significance beyond a routine software release: Pi is continuing to explore how the computers running Pi Nodes can provide utility beyond supporting the Pi blockchain.

The development builds on Pi Network’s broader SoloHost initiative, which was introduced as a framework for developers to create and distribute self-hosted applications that can run on users’ computers. Pi has specifically identified distributed computing as a future use case for available Node resources.

Pi Node 0.6.2 Pushes Beyond Blockchain Infrastructure

Pi Nodes have traditionally been associated with supporting the network’s decentralized infrastructure. Pi’s documentation describes Nodes as computers that contribute to transaction validation and consensus, while the broader Pi Desktop environment gives users access to Pi functionality from their computers.
