Ripple Partners With Cross River Bank to Integrate RLUSD Into Core Banking Infrastructure
Ripple is expanding the reach of its RLUSD stablecoin through a new partnership with Cross River Bank, which plans to integrate the dollar-backed digital asset into its core banking platform with support for the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Announced on October 15, 2026, the agreement aims to give fintech companies access to stablecoin payments, faster settlement and cross-border transfers through existing banking infrastructure.
The integration reflects a growing effort to connect blockchain-based payments with traditional financial services rather than operate them as separate systems. For Ripple, the partnership creates another channel for RLUSD adoption, while Cross River aims to give its customers more flexibility in moving money across payment networks around the clock.
Cross River Integrates RLUSD for 24/7 Banking and Payments
Cross River will incorporate RLUSD into its proprietary Core Operating System, allowing eligible fintech customers to access the stablecoin through a single API connection. According to the announcement, businesses will be able to move between US dollars and RLUSD, manage treasury transfers and conduct cross-border payments without having to build and maintain their own blockchain infrastructure.
The integration is designed to give payment networks additional settlement options. Issuers and acquirers could use RLUSD to settle transactions intraday, potentially reducing delays associated with conventional settlement processes. The stablecoin will operate alongside existing payment methods, including automated clearing house transfers, wire transfers and real-time payment services supported by Cross River.
The XRP Ledger provides the underlying blockchain infrastructure for RLUSD transactions covered by the integration. Cross River cited XRPL’s transaction speeds of approximately three to five seconds and low transaction costs as advantages for businesses that require frequent, time-sensitive transfers. Unlike traditional banking systems that may operate within specific processing windows, blockchain transactions can be initiated around the clock, subject to platform availability and applicable controls.
Cross River’s fintech customers are the primary audience for the new capability. By connecting stablecoin payments to an existing banking API, the partnership aims to reduce the technical complexity involved in adopting blockchain-based settlement. Businesses could gain another way to manage liquidity and international transfers without having to replace their existing financial technology systems.
However, access is not yet universal. Cross River stated that services are currently available only in limited US states. The practical reach of the integration will therefore depend on customer eligibility, geographic restrictions and the rollout of supported services.
RLUSD Growth Strengthens Ripple’s Institutional Payments Strategy
Ripple described the partnership as an example of stablecoins becoming part of the financial infrastructure businesses already use. Rather than requiring companies to operate separate systems for digital assets and traditional money, the integration is intended to bring both into a more unified payments environment.
The announcement placed RLUSD’s market capitalization above $2.5 billion, with more than $1 billion of the stablecoin issued on the XRP Ledger. These figures indicate that the asset has developed a meaningful presence in the stablecoin market, although market capitalization alone does not establish how much payment activity the token processes or how much demand the new integration will generate.
For the XRP Ledger, the partnership adds another potential institutional use case involving dollar-backed payments. RLUSD transactions use the stablecoin itself to transfer dollar-denominated value, while XRP serves a distinct role within the XRPL ecosystem, including as the network’s native asset. Increased RLUSD usage should not automatically be interpreted as equivalent demand for XRP, since the relationship depends on how transactions are structured and whether XRP is needed for particular network operations.
The agreement also arrives as financial institutions and fintech providers explore stablecoins for treasury management, settlement and international payments. Dollar-backed tokens can provide a blockchain-based representation of value that moves outside conventional banking hours, although businesses must still account for redemption arrangements, compliance requirements, liquidity and operational risks.
For companies using Cross River’s platform, the main question will be whether RLUSD delivers practical improvements in settlement speed, cost and access to liquidity compared with existing alternatives. The partnership establishes an additional payment rail, but its commercial impact will become clearer as more customers use the service and transaction activity develops.
Ripple’s Cross River integration represents another step in bringing stablecoins into regulated financial technology infrastructure. If adoption grows, the partnership could expand RLUSD’s role in business payments and strengthen the XRP Ledger’s position as a platform for institutional settlement. For now, the announcement establishes the technology and access model, while broader adoption will depend on customer demand, service availability and measurable benefits for businesses.
