Ripple Partners With Privy to Bring Embedded Wallets and AI Agent Payments to XRP Ledger

Ripple

Ripple is partnering with Privy, a Stripe company, to bring embedded wallet infrastructure to the XRP Ledger (XRPL), giving developers more ways to integrate digital asset payments into applications. Announced on October 13, 2026, the integration is designed to support financial technology products, stablecoin payments and emerging forms of commerce involving artificial intelligence agents.

The partnership will allow developers to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions and build payment experiences using XRP, Ripple USD (RLUSD) and other digital assets on the network. Users will not need to manage private keys directly to access these embedded wallet experiences, potentially reducing one of the technical barriers to using blockchain-based financial services.

The announcement also focuses on agentic commerce, in which AI agents can hold funds and initiate transactions within applications. Privy’s infrastructure will support programmable wallets and x402 payments, connecting XRPL’s payment capabilities with software that can transact on behalf of users or businesses under defined conditions.

Privy Brings Embedded Wallets and RLUSD Payments to XRPL

Privy provides wallet infrastructure that developers can integrate into their products rather than building every wallet function from scratch. Through the partnership, developers will be able to create XRPL wallets, manage them through Privy and sign transactions using its infrastructure. The integration is intended to help payment providers and fintech companies offer blockchain functionality without requiring every customer to understand wallet setup and key management.

The supported assets include XRP, RLUSD and other digital assets issued or available on XRPL. This gives developers options for designing payment services around the network’s native token and stablecoin-based transfers. However, the announcement does not establish that every asset or payment feature will be supported in every application, as implementation will depend on the product being built.

Privy says its platform has more than eight million funded accounts and has facilitated more than $1 trillion in value moved. Ripple’s announcement separately states that XRPL has processed 13 million agent payments, representing roughly 25% of network activity. These figures describe different aspects of the companies’ infrastructure and should not be treated as evidence that all of Privy’s accounts or transaction volume are connected to XRPL.

The partnership builds on XRPL’s focus on transferring and exchanging digital assets, including stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets. Privy says the network has operated for more than 14 years, with over eight million funded accounts and more than $1 trillion in value moved. Its fast settlement and low transaction costs are presented as useful features for developers building payment applications, although actual costs and performance can vary by transaction and network conditions.

Developers will also be able to provide users with private-key and seed-phrase export options, according to Privy’s announcement. That feature is important because embedded wallets can simplify onboarding while users may still want a way to recover or move their wallet independently. The integration therefore combines managed wallet infrastructure with a stated option for user ownership and portability.

XRP Ledger Expands Into AI Agent Payments With x402

A major part of the partnership is support for AI agents that can hold and transact with funds through programmable wallets. Rather than requiring a person to approve every routine step manually, developers may design applications in which agents initiate payments to complete specific tasks. Such systems could support automated digital services, software subscriptions and machine-to-machine transactions, depending on how developers implement controls and permissions.

The integration includes x402 payments, a mechanism associated with enabling internet services to request payments through HTTP-based interactions. Combining this approach with XRPL wallets could allow developers to build applications where software agents pay for services or access resources. The announcement does not provide a launch date for every x402 feature or specify which applications will be available first.

Privy and Ripple also plan to deepen the integration over time with policy controls and gas sponsorship. Policy controls could give developers more ways to define how wallets transact, while gas sponsorship could help simplify the transaction experience for users who do not want to manage network fees themselves. Both capabilities are described as future integration work rather than features confirmed as fully available at launch.

RippleX Senior Vice President Markus Infanger said Privy’s wallet infrastructure could help developers bring XRPL into real products, from payments and stablecoin experiences to agentic commerce. Privy co-founder and CEO Henri Stern similarly highlighted the potential for stablecoins and payment applications built on the ledger. Their comments describe the companies’ objectives; broader adoption will depend on developers deploying products and users choosing to use them.

For the XRP Ledger community, the partnership expands the tools available to teams building payment and financial applications, including those using RLUSD and AI-driven transactions. The reported 13 million agent payments and approximately 25% share of network activity point to an area Ripple is emphasizing, but the announcement does not detail the methodology behind those figures. The longer-term significance will depend on transaction quality, real-world demand, wallet safeguards and whether the new infrastructure produces sustained usage beyond initial integrations.
