World.xyz has officially launched its standalone prediction market platform on Solana, opening access to more than 1 million users who had been waiting to join. The platform brings prediction markets covering sports, crypto, politics, finance, economics, culture and other real-world events into a fully onchain trading environment.

The launch expands on World’s earlier availability through Phantom, where the platform says it has featured more than 150,000 markets since July. Its standalone platform now gives users access to markets covering every NFL regular-season game, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 U.S. midterm elections and the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decision.

World.xyz Expands Prediction Markets on Solana

For Solana, the launch represents another attempt to move prediction-market activity deeper into its onchain economy. Ramzy Ali, head of DeFi at the Solana Foundation, described World as a new asset class for the network, with liquidity remaining onchain. The significance is less about a single application and more about whether prediction markets can become a meaningful source of recurring activity for Solana users.

World uses binary contracts that give traders a “yes” or “no” position on a particular outcome. Prices range between zero and one dollar and change according to market demand. Contracts are settled using CASH, Phantom’s dollar-backed stablecoin, creating a relatively straightforward structure for users who want exposure to event outcomes without holding a traditional brokerage account.

The platform’s market selection also points to an attempt to make prediction trading broader than political betting. Sports provide frequent events, while crypto and financial markets offer continuous interest. Future additions are expected to include equity up-or-down markets and commodities such as gold, silver, oil, natural gas and compute, followed by weather markets covering major cities.

That expansion could become important for liquidity. A prediction market needs enough participants to produce useful prices and maintain active trading. World enters the market with a large waitlist, but the more important test will be how many of those users become regular traders and how much activity the platform generates after the initial launch.

Chainlink Provides the Resolution Infrastructure

Chainlink is playing a central role in how World determines market outcomes. Chainlink Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment provide market data and orchestration infrastructure designed to automate resolutions when events conclude. Current reporting confirms that the system is intended to replace slower human review or token-holder voting with automated, data-driven settlement.

That approach addresses one of the more important problems in prediction markets: determining what actually happened. A market can attract traders and liquidity, but confidence in the final result is equally important. Automated resolution can reduce the need for manual intervention and potentially shorten the period between an event ending and users receiving their settlement.

For Chainlink, World provides another use case for its infrastructure beyond traditional DeFi price feeds. Prediction markets require reliable information from sports, financial markets, politics and other external sources. If World expands into thousands of different markets, the underlying data and resolution layer becomes an important part of the platform’s operation.

The partnership also gives Solana another application built around real-world information rather than simple token trading. Prediction markets connect blockchain infrastructure with events that users already follow, potentially creating a bridge between mainstream information and onchain financial activity.

World is also designed around self-custody, while its Phantom integration makes the product accessible through an established crypto wallet. Phantom says its platform has more than 20 million users, although prediction-market availability depends on jurisdiction. World has not disclosed first-day trading volume, open interest or fee figures, leaving actual user engagement as one of the key metrics to watch after launch.

The broader question is whether prediction markets can become a durable category within the Solana ecosystem. A waitlist of more than 1 million users gives World a substantial starting audience, but adoption will ultimately depend on liquidity, market quality, resolution reliability and repeat usage. If World can convert its initial audience into sustained trading activity, its launch could mark an important step in bringing event-based markets further into the onchain economy.
