Binance Confirms Support for VeChain Upgrade

Binance has confirmed that it will support the upcoming VeChain (VET) network upgrade and hard fork scheduled for September 16, giving users on the exchange a clear timeline for the maintenance period. The move means Binance will handle the technical requirements associated with the network change on behalf of its users.

According to Binance, deposits and withdrawals of tokens on the VeChain network will be suspended from approximately 10:15 UTC on September 16. The network upgrade itself is scheduled for block height 25,902,540, which is expected to be reached at approximately 11:15 UTC the same day.

The one-hour gap between the planned suspension and the upgrade is designed to give the exchange time to prepare its wallet infrastructure before the hard fork takes place. Users holding VET on Binance do not need to perform a technical upgrade themselves, as the exchange says it will handle the required procedures.

Importantly, the temporary suspension will not affect VET trading on Binance. Users will still be able to trade the token while deposits and withdrawals through the VeChain network are unavailable. Binance will restore those services once it determines that the upgraded network is stable.

The announcement comes as VeChain continues developing its underlying blockchain infrastructure. The VeChainThor network is maintained through a validator system, with validators responsible for securing the network, participating in governance and contributing to consensus. The current validator documentation lists a 101-validator leader group.

What the VET Hard Fork Means for Users

For most Binance users, the immediate impact should be limited to network transfers. Anyone planning to deposit VET to Binance or withdraw it through VeChain around the upgrade window should account for the temporary suspension rather than assuming transfers will process normally.

Binance has also made clear that users should not expect a separate announcement when deposits and withdrawals resume. The exchange will reopen the services after the network is considered stable, meaning the exact restoration time could depend on how the upgrade performs after activation.

The distinction between trading and transfers is important. Because trading remains active, the market can continue operating while the blockchain infrastructure undergoes its scheduled change. This reduces disruption for traders but does not eliminate the potential for increased volatility around the upgrade.

The hard fork is being implemented at a specific blockchain height rather than simply at a fixed calendar time. That means the actual activation depends on the VeChainThor chain reaching block 25,902,540. Binance currently estimates that this will happen at about 11:15 UTC on September 16.

VeChain’s broader economic model also continues to rely on VTHO for network transaction fees. Under the current framework, VTHO used for gas is burned, while VET staking and delegation participate in the network’s reward structure. That design separates the primary asset used for staking and value transfer from the token used to pay transaction costs.

For VET holders, the upcoming hard fork should therefore be viewed primarily as a technical network event rather than an automatic price catalyst. A successful upgrade can improve the network’s infrastructure, but it does not guarantee that VET will rise immediately after the change.

The bigger question will be what the new VeChain release adds to the network and how those changes affect performance, reliability and future applications. Binance’s decision to support the upgrade removes one operational concern for exchange users because the platform is taking responsibility for the technical transition.

With the September 16 activation approaching, VET holders should pay attention to the 25,902,540 block height and Binance’s transfer restrictions. Trading will continue, but deposits and withdrawals will temporarily stop. If the upgraded network remains stable after the hard fork, Binance says those services will automatically resume without another announcement.
