LUNC Staking Moves Above 14%
Terra Classic has reached another staking milestone, with more than 905 billion LUNC now bonded to validators and the network staking ratio moving above 14%. Current network data shows roughly 905.16 billion LUNC staked, putting the ratio at about 14.03%.
The move follows an increase from approximately 894 billion LUNC on September 7 to around 905 billion by September 9. That represents roughly 11 billion additional LUNC entering staking in just two days, according to the figures reported by LUNC Daily.

A higher staking ratio means a larger portion of LUNC is being committed to the network’s proof-of-stake system. Holders delegate their tokens to validators, which use that delegated stake to participate in consensus and help maintain the Terra Classic blockchain.
The latest figure is also notable because Terra Classic has a very large token supply. With more than 6.4 trillion LUNC in total supply, having over 900 billion tokens bonded represents a meaningful portion of the network’s available supply. Current network dashboards put total supply at roughly 6.45 trillion LUNC.
Why the Staking Increase Matters
Staking does not simply remove LUNC from circulation. Delegated tokens remain associated with the holder’s wallet, but they become bonded and are not immediately available for spending or trading. Unstaking also involves an unbonding period, currently listed at 21 days in Terra Classic staking documentation.
The increase therefore represents a commitment by holders to remain involved with the network rather than keeping all of their LUNC liquid. Delegators can earn protocol rewards while their chosen validators participate in consensus, although returns depend on network conditions, validator commission and other factors.
Validator distribution is another factor worth watching as staking expands. Current rankings show large amounts of LUNC delegated to major validators, including Allnodes, DutchLUNC and KuCoin LUNC Node. This makes validator concentration an important part of the broader staking picture rather than simply focusing on the total amount staked.
The reported 9.85 billion LUNC delegation to the KuCoin validator is particularly notable because a single delegation of that size can influence the distribution of voting power. Large individual movements should still be treated separately from organic growth in the number of LUNC stakers, since one wallet can account for billions of tokens.

For the Terra Classic community, the 14% milestone provides another network metric to track alongside burns, transaction activity, validator participation and governance. Staking is directly connected to the security of the chain because validators rely on bonded stake when participating in consensus.
However, the staking increase should not automatically be treated as proof that investor confidence has returned. A higher staking ratio does not tell us why holders delegated their LUNC, whether they intend to hold for the long term, or whether the increase will translate into higher network usage.
The same caution applies to LUNC’s price. Staking can reduce the amount of immediately liquid LUNC, but price ultimately depends on supply and demand across the wider market. Network activity, exchange liquidity, burns, utility and broader cryptocurrency conditions remain important variables.
There is nevertheless a clear trend worth monitoring. If the amount of bonded LUNC continues to increase while validator participation, transaction activity and ecosystem development also improve, the staking ratio could become a stronger indicator of sustained engagement with Terra Classic.
For now, the numbers are straightforward: more than 905 billion LUNC is staked, the ratio is around 14.03%, and the network has added roughly 11 billion bonded tokens over the period highlighted by LUNC Daily. The next question is whether Terra Classic can maintain that momentum without relying solely on staking incentives.
